FAQ

Is there any way I can download all the answers written by a particular user?
Thisbines together Mehul Mohan's answer to Is there any way I can download all the answers written by a particular user? answer aid 2351222 and Ariel Williams's answer to What is the best way to backup content on Quora? answer aid 4781928 This backs up all your content or all the content from any other Quora user as a single very long web page (for me it over 7 pages long). To back up your content as separate pages see How to back up all your Quora answers to yourputer - short version board_item board_item_id 352418 SUMMARY OF THE IDEA The idea is to go to your or their profile page and scroll to the end and then expand all the More buttons. This is easy if you or they have few answers but if they have many it needs to be automated. You can do that following Mehul Mohan user 58667386 method see AUTOMATING THE SCROLL TO END AND EXPANDING THE (MORE) LINKS below. If you have many thousands of answers you could run out of memory causing memory error messages and your browser might crash. I was fine with 7 pages of answers but some of you have much more. I don have an answer to that except to close all other programs running close all the tabs except the one with the quora web page - and try different browsers as some use less memory than others. Internet Explorer uses less memory than Chrome for instance which has the reputation of using rather a lot of memorypared to some other browsers. You now have all your answers as a single web page. Now you need a way to save that page to your local hard disk. There are two ways to do the save. You can print it to a PDF or you can save it as Web Page Complete in Chrome or use the MHTML format in other browsers. Both methods save the page itself just as you see it and not the dynamic iplete page that you get when you first visit the page. TWO EXAMPLES Here are all Mehul Mohan user 58667386 answers as a PDF ( Mb 89 pages) and as a single web page (you may need to wait for the page to load). For another example here are all my Quora answers as a single web page. You may have to wait for the page to load. It 24 Mb of and 56 Mb of s. It a bit over 45 words or equivalent to about 1 pages of a book So how can you do that for your own answers or someone else answers? Im doing this tutorial on Windows and Im using Chrome as the browser instructions will be similar on other browsers and operating systems. HOW TO SHOW ALL YOUR ANSWERS ON THE PROFILE PAGE If you only have a few answers it is easy. First keep scrolling down until you reach the end. Easiest way (on Windows) is to keep typing Ctrl + End until it is done. Now you have to expand all the (more) s. To do that search the page for (more). A quick way to do this is to F3 which is the windows shortcut for Find. Then copy paste (more) into the search field. Then go through the page doing F3 click F3 click - until you have expanded all the (more) s. If you have many answers you need to automate this and Ill say how in a minute. But you can do it manually for a few answers just for testing first to make sure the method works on yourputer. HOW TO BACK THE PAGE UP ONCE DONE To export as a web page go to More Tools Save Page As Web page plete) in Chrome Then just click save and that it done. You need to wait for it to save the page which may take a while. If you look in the download folder then you won see the web page there until it is finished. Then you can go and look wherever you saved it and you should see a single web page with all your answers in one go. All the s 555 62 . For Windows 10 users, have you succumbed to allowing Microsoft Edge to edge its way into becoming your default .PDF viewer, and if so, why?
Succumbed? You make it sound like having a working PDF reader in a desktop operating system is a bad thing. One of the dictionary definitions of the word succumbed is a reference to literal actual death. So ~ dramatic italic ~. Sheesh. PDF is an open ISO standard s for displaying formatted & images. It not all that different than the core purpose of HTML when you take a step back and think about it. Microsoft is not only well within their rights to include an ISO 3232patible PDF reader within Microsoft Windows. it also quite sensible for it to be included in the same application that understands many other standard file formatsmonly found on the public Internet. Google had the same idea with the Chrome browser way back in 21 s and that browser has had first-class plugin-free PDF support ever since. It the exact same story with Firefox which added a built-in PDF viewer in 213 s . In both cases this meant that you no longer needed to install Adobe Acrobat Reader FoxIt or some other separate application for displaying one specific file format. It also meant that any security fixes to the PDF reader were delivered with regular web browser updates. which is nice on Windows and Mac because otherwise you have to use separate updater applications. (Most Linux desktop users keep their PDF readers updated through the same updater mechanism as the rest of the operating system. one of Linux biggest benefits IMO.) Adobe Acrobat Reader in particular receives a security update s every two months or thereabouts. If you don stay right on top of this you could certainly find yourself on the wrong end of a malicious attack in a PDF file. horizontal-rule So why have a problem with Edge supporting the same file format as Chrome and Firefox? I suspect this may be more a matter of having some weirdo personal emotions about Microsoft based upon something they did a long time ago that you can let go of. This attitude certainly wouldn arise from thinking about it rationally dispassionately and from a technological standpoint. It just a standard for displaying a document. Hardly something to get worked up over.
What are the most productive ways to spend time on the Internet?
I think a lot of these answers miss the point of the question. The real issue isn't that there's a paucity of useful webpages on the internet it's that taking advantage italic of those webpages is difficult. What does it say about human beings that we really italic can get an Ivy League education for free online but nearly nobody does it? The Coursera and Udacity and Khan Academy attrition rates are so phenomenal that it makes thepletion rates look like round-off errors. We live in an attention-deficit culture and the solution isn't better websites it's better humans. In view of spending your time more effectively I suggest the following tipsn Completely cut Facebook Reddit Twitter and any other social sites out of your life. If you are unable to do this strictly regulate the total time spent on these sites to 3 minutes to an hour each day. You can download Chrome extensions to help you with this like StayFocusd s . But I cannot emphasize enough how much these sites will ruin your life. Everyone alwayses to the defense of social media with excuses like well I use Facebook to keep in touch with my high school friends and relatives overseas or Twitter is how I stay up-to-date with current events or you can learn lots of great things with specialized subreddits and so on. Yet when you look at a distribution of how people actually italic allocate their time nearly none of it is spent doing the very things that people point to when they justify their behavior. It's always just mindless scrolling animated gifs cat videos the first twenty seconds of a really neat lecture and so could be a more devastating rebuke of social media than the fact that nobody uses it for the reasons it was designed? This is of course auxiliary to the more important reality that research on Facebook consistently shows that it makes everyone more sad and less fulfilled with life on average.n To-do lists. There may be nothing more insanely effective than a to-do list. Write down what you have to do prioritize the list by difficulty and be excruciatingly detailed when you write down your objectives. Don't get fancy don't use Evernote or a Chrome Extension or some app just use paper and pen. Don't write Finish research paper on ethics. Write Write one page on Chapter 3 of Peter Singer's 'Practical Ethics. The smaller more discrete the tasks the more superable they be. Also plan how italic you are going to efficiently procrastinate in between the tasks. Write play chess watch a Noam Chomsky lecture do one lesson of DuoLingo and so forth in between big tasks. Take a power nap if you're too exhausted to be efficient with your procrastination. nnRemember when you don't plan your time you fail to take advantage of opportunities that avail themselves and you go for the path of least resistance -- which usually happens to be AngryBirds and YouTube videos.n

How can I copy a text or pictures from a popup window in Chrome which doesn't allow right click, ctrl+C, ctrl+V or ctrl+P?
Thanks for seeking my answer. I get your issue. I too face this issue many times due to over-zealousness of some developers for trying to protect digital content. When I need to copy things like registration numbers or registration particulars for record (of what exactly I entered) and even have a record of what a website has shown to me for giving feedback to customer support and so on below are the things I do. I use one or more or all of them as the situation demands. Get a screen-shot using the PrtSc button on the keyboard. If that is not an option keep installed a screen grabbing utility (there are several do a web search). PrtSc works for me. I can even grab a specific area by Shift+PrtSc in Ubuntu Linux. Do a print to file (my Ubuntu Linux has print-to-PDF installed by default). Inspect element in browser (Ctrl+Shift+I in both Firefox and Chrome). Press Ctrl-U to open source trace the resource and copy it. Record-My-Desktop activity. Ubuntu Linux has a utility with that exact name record my desktop. Last but not the least take a photo of the screen with a digital camera camera (I did this just a short while ago to record a screen in a corrupted Windows installation).
