Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will be conducting the counselling of JoSAA 2020 for all qualified candidates. All candidates who have appeared in JEE Mains 2020 are eligible to register for seat allocation in NIT+ system (except IITs) while candidates who have qualified JEE Advanced 2020 are eligible to register for seat allocation in all participating Institutes. JoSAA counselling process is nearly same for IITs and NITs. JoSAA counselling procedure . Registration The candidates who want to participate in JoSAA counselling will ave to complete the registration process. This is necessary for JoSAA counselling. 2. Selection and Locking of Choices After registration, candidates need to fill the institute and branch as per their choice. JEE Advanced qualified candidates are eligible for seat in all the institutes while candidates who have cleared only JEE Mains can opt for seats in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. After choice filling candidates can lock their choices, else it will be auto locked prior to the results of Round 1. 3. Declaration of Seat Allotment Candidates will be allotted seats in the institute based on their rank, category, preference and seat availability. The result of seat allotment is declared online. Candidates who have been allotted a seat have to download the provisional seat allotment letter and pay seat acceptance fees Rs. 35000 (for General, EWS and OBC category candidates) or Rs. 15000 (for SC and ST category candidates). 4. Reporting at Centers Candidates who have been allotted a seat in IIT have to report only at any nearby IIT while those who have been allotted seat in NIT, IIIT or GFTI can report at any nearby NIT, IIT or GFTI. Documents are verified at the reporting centre and candidate is given choice either to FREEZE or FLOAT or SLIDE the seat allotted to them. FREEZE - Selecting this option means that the candidate accepts the seat at the institute and branch allotted to him/her. FLOAT - If the candidate wants to participate in rounds scheduled ahead in the counselling then float option has to be selected. The candidate can be allotted seat in any of the institute which he/she has locked during choice filling of higher preference than that was allotted earlier. SLIDE - By selecting this option candidate can continue to participate in rounds ahead but the institute will remain same i.e, only the branch allotted can change in rounds ahead but not the institute. Participation in subsequent rounds If candidate opts for FLOAT or SLIDE option, then will be participating in the subsequent rounds. Seat allotted may or may not change in the subsequent rounds. If a candidate is satisfied with the seat allotted, then he/she can report at the institute allotted and confirm his/her admission else keep participating in the rounds ahead. 6. Confirmation of Admission at allotted institute After all the rounds to seat allocation are complete, candidates have to report at the institute which has been allotted to them.
